Look for lost socks behind the washing machine, and then check that dark space between the washer and the dryer.
Front loader machines: some socks get caught in the washer’s filter. If your washing machine has a clean-out area, open it and look for socks. You definitely don’t want socks to get caught in the drain pump.
Socks can often get stuck fitted sheets, the socks can end up stuck in the corner pockets. Baby socks tend to hide in trouser legs.
Attach each pair of socks together with saftey pins.
Use a mesh laudry bag.
Or just… embrace the “mixmatch”, that’s much more fun.
