The lights went out

The lights went out

There was a man who lived all alone, who never left his home.

The only time anyone ever visited him was when his food and supplies were delivered, but the people who brought the food and supplies never came inside.

One stormy winter’s night when an icy gale was blowing, the man had a nervous breakdown.

He went upstairs, turned off all the lights and went to bed to sleep.

The next morning, he had caused the deaths of several hundred people.

How come?
